Stacey sent in a story of her own that we loved and of course we had to post it on her “runiversary”. 🙂

One year ago today… June 03, 2018

I celebrated community spirit, and myself, today – participating in the #yeg #highstreetmile by dragging my asthmatic / non ACL / post injury knees / 49 yr old / slightly rounded dancer self down the road & across the finish line for a second year in a row! *FYI.. I am not a runner.

Yes, I may have be the very last person to cross the finish line in the Open Category BUT I never stopped running AND I shaved off almost 2 minutes from my previous year’s time!!!

My family & friends were cheering wildly as I crossed the finish line (they finished long before) because they knew this was a really big deal to me.

Over the past year I’ve challenged myself to do new things, be accountable, be brave, and acknowledge that the only person I need to compare myself to is the old me.

It doesn’t matter if I win. It only matters that I didn’t quit something I set my mind to.

Exciting followup – most of the runners were young triathletes, so the community divisions were small, and there were only 2 of us in the ladies 45-49 age group… I got a silver medal!!!

Wonder how I’ll do this year?
